Empowering Fuel Choice through the ACE August Conference
by Sara Eiesland

With timely, industry-focused presentations and prominent speakers on the agenda, the American Coalition for Ethanol’s annual conference is shaping up to be the can’t-miss event of the summer for ethanol producers, the industry, and its grassroots supporters.

The 23rd annual ACE Ethanol Conference & Trade Show will be held August 3-5 in Kansas City, Missouri. ACE is encouraging people to register by July 23 to take advantage of the best registration pricing.

This conference promises to highlight the best in public policy, technology, and ethanol marketing through a theme of “Empowering Fuel Choice.” ACE is leading the charge to bring consumers meaningful choices at the pump, allowing them to choose their own fuel, whether it be E0 to E85 or anything in between.

Registration for the event is open at www.ethanol.org. Find the “ACE Conference” quick link on the right-hand side of the home page, which will take you to online registration. ACE is proud of its tradition of hosting a high quality yet very affordable event.

The ACE Ethanol Conference includes both smaller breakout sessions and a larger, more formal general session. This year’s breakout sessions will include timely topics, including: compliance with the Renewable Fuels Standard 2, greenhouse gas reporting for ethanol producers, improving efficiencies and profit, and best business practices and governance. Staff from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will also make a presentation and conduct a Q&A session for attendees.

The general session will feature an analysis of how companies producing cellulosic ethanol plan to meet the RFS2 rule, as well as a look at the unconventional, expensive, and unsustainable methods by which the United States is obtaining its oil supply – contrast this to ethanol, which is growing more and more efficient. See the agenda printed on the facing page for more details on the speakers and topics.

ACE is pleased to announce that the general session will feature a keynote address by Anne Korin, co-director of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security and co-author of Turning Oil Into Salt: Energy Independence Through Fuel Choice. Korin is chair of the Set America Free Coalition, an alliance promoting ways to reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil. She appears frequently on Capitol Hill and her advice is sought by Members of Congress. We know you will enjoy Korin’s keynote address on the theme of energy independence through fuel choice.

Opportunities are still available for companies to advertise, sponsor, and exhibit. Shannon Gustafson ([email protected], 605-334-3381) is the point of contact in the ACE office, or visit Ethanol.org and click on “Conference & Trade Show” for more details about the remaining opportunities.

The venue for the 2010 conference is Bartle Hall at the Kansas City Convention Center, which is near the heart of downtown and the newly restored Kansas City Power & Light District. A block of hotel rooms is reserved for conference guests at the Marriott Kansas City Downtown. To make your reservation, call the hotel at (800) 266-9432 or go to the Conference section at Ethanol.org for more details.
